Casting for Kids Feb. 17th; NWMSU Feb. 19th

Looks like 2013 will start off with a bunch of youth activities.  February 17th, the Leavenworth Bass Club will present a Casting Kids contest at Cabela’s in Kansas City from 12:30 to 3:00 PM. Cabela’s will provide prizes and trophies to three age groups: 3-6 yrs, 7-11 yrs and 12-15 yrs. Each group will compete for trophies and gift cards, provided by Cabela’s. If you need more information, or directions, contact Cabela’s at (913) 328-0322. We will also have representatives on hand from our wounded warrior project talk about Fishing for Freedom 2013 at Truman Reservoir, 12-13 October.

We will be attending the Northwest Missouri State University Fishing Club meeting in Maryville on February 19th, and will give a presentation on bass fishing. Then, we will be providing boats for their Bearcat Open on Mozingo Lake, a stop on the College Bass Championship circuit. There will be two college students per boat, fishing for a limit of five bass. They are expecting 20-30 boats for this event. The website for this event can be found at:

The fishing club has asked for our help at their weekly meeting on April 2nd to give a few 15-minute talks on fishing related subjects. We will probably do presentations on knot tying and instruction on pitching and flipping.  Their website is at:

Anyone interested in assisting at any of these events should contact our Youth Coordinator, Bill Horvath @913-306-1110 to sign up or get more information.
