The General Membership Meeting Minutes follows:
WELCOME: The Leavenworth Bass Club held its regular monthly meeting on October 6th, 2014 at the Rod and Gun Clubhouse. There were 19 members present. The current President called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
Secretary’s Report: The minutes for September 2014 were approved as written. They were e-mailed to all members and were posted to the club website. Notified several members that their BASS membership expire within the next 2 months. Contact the secretary if you have a question about when yours expires.
If you have ANY changes or corrections for the roster, pass them along to the secretary.
Treasurer’s Report: Kenny reports that the club checking account had a starting balance of $4412.87 and an ending balance of $3035.87. The Fishing for Freedom checking account had a starting balance of $33,576.24 and an ending balance of $39,524.66.and the PAYPAL account has a balance of $1,409.86. The Treasurer’s report was approved as presented.
Conservation Committee Report: Dan received a box containing 118 packets of lures for youth programs from Whopper Baits. With packets still on hand from the first box received, the club had approximately 220 packets to give away. He provided 30 packets to the Youth Chairman for distribution to the Northwest Missouri State University Fishing Club.
He contacted the MOBASS President and asked if he could use some lures to support the youth clubs in the state. The President stated he could and asked if the lures could be brought to the state championship held from Oct 4 – 5. The Conservation Chairman provided a box of approximately 60 packets of lures to our club’s team captain who gave the lures to the MOBASS President.
The used plastic recycle bin is about ¾ full, so bring those used plastics to the November meeting so we can give Bobby Keenom’s family something to do during the upcoming winter.
It was recently discovered that in addition to recycling monofilament line, Berkley will recycle the spools that all types of line are sold on. So save your old spools and bring them to the meetings for recycling.
Youth Committee Report: Bill Horvath, Dan Senterfitt, Bill Gevedon and Dennis Edwards attended the NWMSU Fishing Club meeting on September 30th on campus. We presented how to pitch and flip, hook removal, knot tying and an overview of basic equipment since they have many new members who have not done a lot of fishing.
Their club hosted a Fall Bearcat Open on Mozingo but we don’t have the results to post.
The NWMSU Fishing Club is planning a banquet on December 5th. If anyone has serviceable rods, reels, or other fishing equipment they can spare, they would appreciate any donations they can raffle off as a way to raise operating funds. See Bill to coordinate anything you might spare.
Bill, Steve Read and Dan Senterfitt worked at Bass Pro in Olathe on September 27th and 28th demonstrating “backyard Bassing for Fishing’s Future.
Banquet Committee Report: John says everything is on track for January. Unfortunately, the windbreaker type shirts we hoped to get from Bass Pro are not available. The club voted to ask for either shirts or jackets ILO the windbreakers. John will collect the awardees preferences and sizes.

The Leavenworth Bass Club completed their 3rd year of participating in the Mo-Bass state tournament. Held October 4th and 5th on Truman Lake. The overall team event was won by The Leavenworth Bass Club with 47.95 pounds which was nearly six pounds ahead of second place.
Larry Stoafer finished sixth place which qualified him for the state team and advances him to regional’s in Mississippi in June. The Leavenworth Bass Club has qualified six members to the MOBASS state team in the last three consecutive years. This feat is very difficult to do and we as a club should be very proud of this accomplishment.
This is a testament to the team work that is displayed by all club members during the state tournament.
Congrats to the 11 fisherman who made the Truman trip and we would encourage all members to attempt to participate on the state team in the future. It’s great learning experience and a fun time.
The winning team has their entries paid for at next year’s state tournament on Table Rock.
