The next club meeting will be on November 6th, 2017 at the Rod and Gun clubhouse. We will be discussing the year end awards and changes to the 2017-2018 tournament rules. Congratulations and thanks to Bob Greene (new president) and Randy Kenton (new vice president).

Welcome: The Leavenworth Bass Club held its monthly meeting on October 2nd at the Ft Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club. There were 20 members present. The vice president called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
Secretary Report:
- The September newsletter was emailed to all current members and posted on the web site.
- The Secretary’s report was approved as read.
Treasurer Report:
- LBC checking account beginning balance is $7,254,77 and the ending balance is $4,902.18. The Fishing For Freedom beginning balance is $32,732.37 and the ending balance is $41,434.22. Pay Pal account has $00.00.
- The Treasurer’s report was approved as read.
Conservation Committee Report: None.
Youth Director Report:
- The Kansas Bass nation is raffling off Brent Chapman’s boat and Fishing’s Future (Bill is the KS state coordinator) is one of the recipients of the raffle. This organization provides the equipment we use at our Fishing for Freedom event and numerous kid’s events we support. Please go to
http://www.ksbassnation.com/win-brent-chapmans-2017-tournament-boat/ for more detail. Only 1000 tickets @ $100 each will be sold. The drawing is scheduled to be held on November 4th.
- Bill discussed the upcoming Bearcat Open on October 14th. The NWMSU fishing club is looking for boaters to take out a student to fish the team tournament. Any boater interested, please see Bill for more info.
Banquet Committee: Mike Brooks says we’re having a banquet on January 20th, 2018.
Webmaster Report: Brent has added the latest newsletter and tournament results.
Vice President Report:
- The MOBASS state team tournament will be held at Truman on 28-29 October. We will have a 10 man team (5 boaters and 5 co-anglers).
- Thanks to Mike Brooks and Steve Read for attending the October MOBASS meeting.
- The club voted on the 2016-2017 Sportsman of the year. The 3 nominees selected were Bill Horvath, Mark Luna & Larry Stoafer. The final selection will be announced at the year end banquet in January.
President Report: None
Fishing for Freedom: The event is this coming weekend. We have 170+ boats and 65 volunteers to support the weekend tournament. Thanks for all who volunteered.

New Equipment Report: Larry talked about the new lights he had installed on his Ranger.
Outside Activities:
- Ray Cates continues his winning ways.
- Four club members fished the Kansas Bass Nation state qualifier at Grand Lake last weekend. Larry Stoafer, Bill Gevedon, Ray Hillebrand and Ray Cates. There were 46 boats. Ray Cates had a 3 fish limit for 8.79 and co-angler big bass for 3.88 lbs. which equaled a 2.5 lb. lead after day one. On day Ray had a 3 fish limit for 9.35 which put him over 18 lbs. for the tournament and in 1st place by almost 5 lbs. Ray qualified to fish the BASS Nation Regional Championship at Toledo Bend in March as a member of the Kansas state team. Congratulations to Ray and best of luck in March.

Tournament Director’s Report:
- The year end Classic at Truman was held September 23rd & 24th. Last month, The club members present voted to budget $200.00 per boat for the Classic. We feasted on elk and venison steaks provided by Bob Jorgensen. Thanks Bob !!
