New Equipment Report: No report.

Outside Activities:

  • Bob Greene fished the Big Bass Bash at Table Rock and won $700. Good job, Bob !!!
  • The Kansas TBF (The Bass Federation) held a qualifier tournament in April earlier this year at Melvern Lake that was a two day event that would decide the top 10 boaters and top 10 co-anglers from Kansas. Ray Cates qualified in top 10 in that event which qualified him to fish the TBF National Semifinal to be held in early October at Truman Lake. The TBF has changed their format this year and instead of combining seven states for a Divisional tournament they are now having National Semifinal tournaments that are more local and usually have two states competing. In our case it was Kansas and Missouri. On the first day they were fishing brush piles in 10’ to 12’ of water and he had three fish that weighted just under 8.5LBS. Ray had one good one that was 4.47 and was good enough to win the co-angler big bass side pot. After day one Ray was sitting in 4th place. On day two the fishing was tough for everyone, they went way up the Grand and was flipping shallow cover. He ended up with two fish for just over 6.5LBS which included another good one that weighted 4.54 and was good again for the day two co-angler big bass. Total weight was 15.17LBS and was the Co-Angler 1st Place. It was pretty tough fishing, there were 20 boats and his weight would have been good enough for 2nd or 3rd overall against the boaters. By being the top Kansas co-angler Ray is now qualified to fish the TBF National Championship in early 2017. The lake and dates have not been announced yet.
  • Congratulations, Ray. We all hope to see your name in the winner’s circle next year !!

MOBASS News: Bill Gevedon reported on the latest MOBASS meeting:

  • Our club was recognized for its conservation efforts.
  • There will be only 1 hard copy of the quarterly newsletter (winter). The rest will be by email.
  • The budget is OK.
  • A different type of raffle is coming – details at the January MOBASS meeting.
  • The cost for the MOBASS state team tournament will be $200 for the boater and $100 for the co-angler.
