The General membership Meeting Minutes follow:
Welcome: The Leavenworth Bass Club held its monthly meeting on October 5th, 2015 at the Ft Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club. There were 23 members present. The president called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.
Secretary’s Report: The September newsletter was emailed to all members. The current roster is posted on the web site. The secretary report was approved as presented.
Treasurer’s Report: Kenny reports that the club checking account had a starting balance of $4,825.09 and an ending balance of $4,703.14. The Fishing for Freedom checking account had a beginning balance of $43,286.89 and ending balance of $37,022.67. PAYPAL account has a balance of $610.00.
The Treasurer’s report was approved as presented.
The new budget for 2016 will be published at the November meeting
Conservation Committee Report: No report
Youth Director Report: We discussed the upcoming Fall 2015 “Bearcat Open” at Mozingo on the 25th of October. We have 6 boaters who have volunteered to team up with a student – Bill Horvath, Rodney Bledsoe, Bob Greene, Bob Jorgensen, Bill Gevedon and Steve Read. If any other boaters can provide a boat, let Bill know ASAP so we can coordinate a student partner. The event flyer was provided in a separate email.
Mark Justice volunteered to present a discussion on co-angler issues to the fishing club, hopefully on October 20th in Maryville. Any other club member who would like to attend, let Bill know.
Dennis discussed the LBC sponsoring a high school fishing club for the Leavenworth area high schools. We can do this, even though we are in MOBASS, not the KS Federation. The next opportunity to add a club into the schools will be in the Spring of 2016, according to Dennis. The requirement is to have at least 12 members in the club, which should not be a problem. We added $200.00 to the budget in case we are able to start this club during the next year.
Banquet Committee Report: We discussed what we would like to have for our awards banquet in January. Bill will talk to Bass Pro in Olathe to see if they are willing to donate whatever number of gift cards (could be up to 17, but usually around 12) and report at the next meeting. Additionally, there is a possibility of getting some wooden plaques for the award winners, in addition to the gift cards. Members present voted to try for the Bass Pro gift cards and plaques.
Webmaster Report: Brent can assist any members if they have difficulty accessing the website. If you have suggestions for the web site or need help or a password, contact Brent.
Vice President’s No report.
President’s Report: Steve thanked Jeff Sell for attending the MOBASS meeting September 19th.
Fishing for Freedom: Still need more boaters. If there are not enough boats so all warriors can fish, expect a call from Larry to all club members who are not already signed up as a boater.
PLEASE SIGN UP IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY A BOATER
New agenda for boaters. Friday night, 6:00 to 8:00 PM is a get together at Anglers Port for the boaters to get them more quickly on fish instead of coming to Truman “cold”. Possible hot dogs and burgers as well.
Saturday morning, 9:00 to Noon at Long Shoal Marina, there will be a series of stations to teach some basic fishing skills to the warriors, run by Steve Read and Mike Brooks.
Old Business: None
New Business: The members present voted to select 3 members as the potential Sportsman of the Year for 2015. The 3 nominees are: Bill Gevedon, Bill Horvath and Larry Stoafer. Another vote was conducted and Mike Brooks, last year’s awardee tallied the results which will be announced at the banquet in January.
Officers for the 2016 tournament year were also elected:
