The next club get together will be June 6th, 2016 at the Ft. Leavenworth Rod and Gun Clubhouse and we will discuss the June tournament at Hudson, OK. Dennis Edwards will share all his world class knowledge & secrets about the lake.

The General membership Meeting Minutes follow:

Welcome: The Leavenworth Bass Club held its monthly meeting on March 7th at the Ft Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club. There were some members present. The president called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. The guest speaker was Gary Burton, form Burton’s Bait and Tackle in Smithville.
• Gary started off the meeting promptly at 7:00 . Gary stated 1st. that fishing licenses were no longer available thru traditional sources, instead available only on-line.
• Clay county Parks has new fees, $130 for vehicle and trailer, unless 62 years old then $100. The new passes are laminated and are to be hung on rear view mirror. The single day pass is $20 for vehicle and trailer. Vehicle only is $8.00 Must complete form and deposit in self pay if no one is present. They are checking and enforcing.

• Conservation projects have yielded 170 new brush piles and habitat. Gary has waypoints available in both Lowrance and Hummingbird for those wanting to download into their units. May also see Smithville Lake site for their locations.

• Gary said to stop by to use his chip for downloading into your units.

• Gary stated that the River is starting to produce some 6 and 7 pounders. He hopes the grass will return again this year. Prior to all the rain fishing had been very good. Currently 4-4.5 ft. high., and muddy.

• Gary answered additional general questions, and as always he is a great speaker. Thanks Gary!

Secretary Report:
• Bill H is in South Dakota drowning worms and Ned rigs for Smallies and Walleye, with some graphic pictures being displayed on texts.
• Motion approved for April minutes. Bill had e-mailed updated email & mailing lists and asks to please review for any corrections.

Treasurer Report: The club checking account had a starting balance of $4128.49 and an ending balance of $4963.49. The Fishing for Freedom checking account had a beginning balance of $22,889.95 and ending balance of $22,849.95. PAYPAL account has a balance of $1580.70. The Treasurer’s report was approved as presented.

Conservation Committee Report:
• Danny had no report, however informed Steve that we needed to find his replacement as he will continue to serve until our election of new Officers. Any Volunteers??

Youth Director Report:
• Bill reports the Cabela’s casting contest was a huge success and thanks to all who participated.
• 7th May 7th: Leavenworth 1st city kids fishing derby @ eighty acres lake on Michaels street in Leavenworth. Must advance register with Parks and Rec. Max. 50 kids.
• May 14th: Bill Horvath will conduct an aquatic instructor certification class (Fishing’s Future) at Bass Pro, Olathe 9: 00 – 12:00.
• May 21st:Rod and Gun Club Fishing Derby on post at Smith Lake Registration at 8:00- 9:00 event begins till 11:00. Prizes and Awards to follow.
• June 25th: County Commissioners Kids Fishing Derby. Happy Hollow Lake( near Leavenworth). We will provide shore patrol support like we did last year.

Banquet Committee Report: Kenny Smith has volunteered to be the new Chair Person. Thanks ,Kenny. You can expect full support from the other club members.

Webmaster Report:
Brent is still struggling with formatting for tournament results. Also difficulties in posting pictures, may need to put them on cd.

Vice President Report:
• Larry has these presentations scheduled for future meetings:

September Someone – successful strategy for team tournaments
October Someone – successful strategy for multi day tournaments

President Report:
• Steve passed out new Mo-Bass decal stickers. These were distributed at Pomme de Terre Mo- bass meeting on April 30.
• With a roll call vote the LBC proposal to reinstate the $1000.00 incentive and trophy were defeated 24 -2.
• Larry has reserved The Town and Country for the Qualifier which is at LOZ, Oct. 14,15,16, 2016. Mandatory Friday meeting at Tan Tara at 5:00 PM
• New Environmental Director: Robert Troumbley reported from Bass that PETA is going grass roots against our sport, and that in California they may see Bass tournaments be done away with in 5 years. They are protesting at local counties and working to stop the cruel treatment of fish in livewells with the markers thru the outside of the jaw. He recommends using Rejuvenate or Slick Slime to restore the slime and also to use the new rubber style nets rather than string style to keep their slime coating and keep the fish off the carpet. Also to mark fish with clip on style but if you use the poke hook style do it directly below the lower jaw.
• The new LBC shirts will be ready by the Smithville event, A Logo change has been the hold up, however is now handled. Steve will notify how much to those who ordered them

Fishing for Freedom: Larry said the next committee meeting will be May 16th.

Tournament Director’s Report:
• The Tournament Director reported that 10 Rooms are reserved at Lake Hudson for our June tourney. Some have microwaves and refrigerators and there is a restaurant at the motel.
• The next tournament will be held at Smithville on SUNDAY, May 22nd, 2016. Take off and weigh-in will be at the W bridge ramp.

Sunday, May 22nd, 2016: Take off @ 5:30 AM or safe light. Weigh in @ 2:30 PM
