Dave Reeves, as stated earlier, gave a presentation on the Ned Rig. Here are the highlights:

  • Uses a medium light spinning rod,  6 lb fluorocarbon, and does not use braid
  • “May” use braid when fishing shallow but not in deeper (10+ water) or wind
  • Original jig used was the Gopher Jig, but it did not have a weed guard. Did much  work and came up with a 1/16th and 1/8th  jig with a weed guard, round head, flat where the worm touches the jig. Uses super glue to cement the worm to the jig
  • Recommends the Zinker Z or TRD worm, cut in half
  • Green pumpkin, watermelon red or PB&G
  • Jig color doesn’t much matter in clearer water, like Table Rock
  • Minimum effort to fish, cast, sink to  bottom, slack line, not tight, shake, slow reel, shake, reel, repeat
  • Can slow crawl along bottom or swim for suspended fish
  • Best on gravel points, transition banks. Even lakes with weeds (Mozingo?)
  • Fish even in the wind, but easier straight into or down wind
  • Catch one, don’t leave – there’s more there.
  • Can fish shallow, or even out to 40 ft.
  • Dave donated several packs of his world famous jig heads for the raffle.

Dave, thanks for sharing  your knowledge and experience with us.  Even if Mother nature did turn  out the lights halfway through your pitch.

Dave is an alumni of the LBC.
These programs are fantastic for those who attend and certainly should elevate the desire to achieve better results every time out.LBC-Logo
