  • The Leavenworth Bass Club held its regular monthly meeting on March 4th at the Ft Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club.  There were 21 members present. The President called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Secretary Report:

  • The newsletter for January/February 2019 were mailed to all current members.
  • An updated email list and mailing list are included with this month’s newsletter. If there are any corrections, let the secretary know.

Treasurer Report:

  • LBC checking account beginning balance was $5,525.61 and the ending balance is $6,462.90. The Fishing for Freedom account beginning was $18,192.45, and the ending balance was $14,078.45. The Pay Pal account has $145.05. The Treasurer’s report was approved as read.

Conservation Committee Report:

  • Eric reported that we received the Mossback shipment from the 40 Creek Whiskey Grant for the Mozingo Habitat Project and is currently stored at Mike Brooks’ house (Thank you). The $5k bought almost 1800lbs worth of habitat and will require a lot of volunteers to put it all together. He has been in touch with Tory Mason, Mozingo Biologist, and he can assist us with the project and his barge on April 13th. We will discuss on Monday at the meeting and hammer out more details as we get closer. Please look at your calendars and make time for April 13th so we can assemble all the habitat and place it into the lake in ONE day.
  • Below is the way ahead from Monday night’s meeting for the Mozingo Habitat project:
    •  Leading up to Mar 30th as time permits, volunteers can start to assemble habitat at Mike’s residence (14445 Wellman Rd, Winchester KS 66097), please text him (913-680-8721) prior to your arrival.
    • On March 30th, 9:00 am the majority of volunteers will meet at Mike’s residence and assemble as much habitat as two open and one enclosed trailer can safely transport.
    • On Apr 12th at 5:00 pm we will have to purchase the cinder blocks (Home Depot at Leavenworth) to weigh the trees down. Eric needs two volunteers with a half-ton or better pickup so we can load the 63 cinder blocks in three trucks (including mine).
    • On April 13th at 8:00 am we will meet at Mozingo Lake to assemble the rest and drop them in the lake. Tory Mason will have his barge but if you want to bring your boat it would speed up the process. A bass boat can hold two Mossback trees.
    • We will have to record the GPS locations for Tory.
    • Please let Eric know if you can transport the cinder blocks on April 12th and plan to attend the Mar 30th  and/or April 13th events.

Youth Director Report: The NWMSU Fishing Club is having a raffle fund raiser. The prize is a Henry .22 lever action rifle. Tickets were sold at the March meeting.

Banquet Committee:  Mike has already scheduled the next banquet for January 25th, 2020.

Webmaster Report:  There was discussion about the need to change the password for the website “Members Only” section. The club decided it was not necessary.

Vice President Report:

  • Reminder on the door prize tickets.
  • Mike has put together a list of topics to be presented at the meetings for the rest of the year. There are some terrific topics scheduled but you gotta attend to hear them. Thanks to all who volunteered to be a presenter.

President Report:

  • A lot of hard work went into planning the tournament schedule and cancellations aren’t popular, but the president commended Mark and the TC for their decision to put our safety above everything else and cancel Table Rock due to weather.
  • Thanks to Bill Gevedon for driving Bob to the MOBASS Board of Directors Meeting in Columbia. This is another in a long list of reasons why Gev was selected as the Sportsman of the Year; continually doing more that we ask.
  • Gev and Bob attended the MOBASS Board of Directors Meeting Feb 23rd in Columbia, MO. In the interest of time, the entire trip report is at the end of this newsletter. These are some of the highlights:
    • MOBASS has a new TD this year – Bill Lewis (Snafu at the state T).
