The next club meeting will be on Monday, April 5th, 2021 at Larry Stoafer’s toy barn.

The website is located at the following address: If you need assistance signing up for the forum, contact the new Webmaster, Brent Goss.

Welcome: The Leavenworth Bass Club held their meeting on March 1st at Larry Stoafer’s toy barn. Thank you, Larry very much for offering the location to our club members. There were 20 members, including a new member present. The President called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Secretary Report: All members are currently in good standing with BASS National and MOBASS.

Treasurer Report: LBC checking account beginning balance was $10,444.60 and the ending balance is $10,098.60.

Conservation Committee Report: No report.

Youth Director Report:

  • Bill & Steve Read went to this week’s meeting with the NWMSU Fishing Club. Tory Mason, the NW Missouri Biologist was the guest speaker. He discussed the status of the lakes in his region and shared a few of his slides with our members.
  • The students are raffling off a Benelli 12g shotgun. I sent an email with details of how to buy tickets if you so desire. If you have any questions, contact me.
  • The Fishing Club has asked us to do a “fish stakes” presentation on March 23rd.  I would need about 3-4 members to help discuss pitching/flipping, rod/reel setup, basic knots and hook removal, and some other casting techniques. If you can help, let me know and we’ll work out the details.
  • There was some discussion about this year’s Spring Bearcat Open at Mozingo. Dates are still TBD but probably in April on a Saturday or Sunday. I’ll have more definite information at our April meeting.

Banquet Committee: No report.

Webmaster Report:

  • Brent Goss has been busy updating the club website. He asks all of us to browse the site and let him know of any corrections and/or additions you would like to see.
  • If you do not have the password for the protected areas, contact Brent.

Vice President Report: No report.

President Report:

  • Bob thanked Larry for hosting another LBC meeting.
  • Bob presented the highly coveted LBC Certificate of Appreciation to Dennis Edwards for his continued support to the club, repairing rods and reels. If you have equipment that needs cleaning or repair, Dennis is the go-to guy.

Fishing for Freedom: No report.

Old Business:

  • At the last MOBASS meeting, there were two potential rule changes that were discussed and will be voted on at the next MOBASS meeting in April:
    • A change to the way boaters and co-anglers are paired at the state tournament. The proposal was to pair anglers within their own clubs vs pairing up with someone from the whole pool of boaters. After a discussion, the members present voted NOT to support this change.
    • The second proposal was to follow the specific lake limits for bass species rather than the same length limit for smallmouth, largemouth and spotted bass. Some lakes have a reduced size limit for spotted bass. The members present discussed this and voted that MOBASS follow the specific lake limits rather than the same size limit for all 3 species of bass. It was unclear if this potential change would apply to the other MOBASS tournaments or just the state championship.

New Business:  John Matthews discussed going to Canada over the Memorial Day weekend (assuming the border opens) if anyone is interested in going with him.

New Members: Dennis Taylor joined the club as a co-angler. He does have many years of fishing experience but wants to learn even more. He lives in Basehor. Welcome, Dennis!!

By-Law Changes: None.

New Equipment Report:  No report.

Outside Activities:  No report.

Alibis: None.

Tournament Director:  The next event will be a buddy tournament at Table Rock, March 27th & 28th. Trailering is permitted. Take off is 6:30 and weigh-in for both days is at Aunt’s Creek at 3:00. Someone please take pictures at the weigh ins.
