Welcome: The Leavenworth Bass Club held its monthly meeting on February 6th at the Ft Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club.  There were 26 members present. The president called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm.

 

Secretary Report:  The February newsletter was emailed to all members. The secretary report was approved as presented.

 

Treasurer Report: 

  • LBC checking account beginning balance is $5,054.14 and the ending balance is $4,731.50. The Fishing For Freedom beginning balance is $16,545.93 and the ending balance is $16,505.93. Pay Pal has $630.55.
  • The Treasurer’s report was approved as read.

 

Conservation Committee Report:  Eric received another box or recycled plastics from Whopper baits. Larry suggested sending some to the youth director of MOBASS. Bill will contact her and send a box for their program.

 

Youth Director Report:

  • The Kansas Bass nation is raffling off Brent Chapman’s boat and Fishing’s Future (Bill is the KS state coordinator) is one of the recipients of the raffle. This organization provides the equipment we use at our Fishing for Freedom event and numerous kid’s events we support. Please go to

  • Thanks to Bob Greene for the Power Point presentation given to the NWMSU fishing club on Feb 28th.
  • Several youth events in the next 30 days need volunteers. See Bill if you are available:
  • 4 volunteers needed to help with “fish Stakes” in Maryville on March 28th
  • 6-8 Boats needed to take students fishing on April 1st for their Bearcat Open
  • 8-10 needed for Casting Kids at Cabela’s on April 8th, from 9:00 to about 1:30. Lunch provided and the vendor’s discount for Cabela’s stuff.

 

Banquet Committee: Many thanks to Mike Brooks for running the 2016 awards banquet. He had so much fun he’s volunteered to do it again.  Thanks, Mike !!

 

Webmaster Report: Brent posted all updates to the web site.

 

Vice President Report:

  • MOBASS is asking for help at several upcoming tournaments, all at LOZ and to get more volunteers, will pay for lodging and some meals:
    • College finals on March 29th & 30th:
    • High School finals on April 2nd:
    • The Central Regional on April 5th, 6th, and 7th.
  • The next MOBASS meeting is on April 27th at the Lighthouse, Pomme de Terre.
  • Larry passed out tee shirts from the BASS conservation folks. More have been ordered for the + sized members who have helped with our conservation projects.

 

President Report:

  • Dennis reminded us that there is a Solar Bat 40% off discount in the member section of our website, along with several other good deals.
  • TBF Youth is raising money by selling a Tempest prop, any pitch, minimum bid $300.00. Great deal if you are interested, see Dennis.
  • MO TBF wants us to join their federation, 6 man team minimum. Would cost about 90 bucks. Again, see Dennis if interested.

 

 

Fishing for Freedom:

  • The 2017 Fishing For Freedom web site is open and accepting warriors, boaters and volunteers.
  • The committee held its first meeting in February, and it looks like we will be using the convention center in Warsaw again this year. The place we used last year in Clinton is already booked for that weekend.

 

Old Business:  None

 

New Business:  Roy Guy, a previous LBC member and a very active Rod and Gun Club member is not doing well, health wise. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

New Equipment Report: Steve Read talked about his new trolling motor, a Minn Kota Ultrex.
