The General membership Meeting Minutes follow:

Welcome: The Leavenworth Bass Club held its monthly meeting on March 7th at the Ft Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club. There were 23 members present. The president called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm.

Secretary Report:
• The February 2016 newsletter was emailed to all members. The updated mailing & email rosters are attached and will soon be on the web site. The secretary’s report was approved as presented.

Treasurer Report: The club checking account had a starting balance of $3,598.85 and an ending balance of $3,859.49. The Fishing for Freedom checking account had a beginning balance of $22,493.95 and ending balance of $22,993.95. PAYPAL account has a balance of $1580.70. The Treasurer’s report was approved as presented.

Conservation Committee Report:
• We did not get the conservation grant from BASS but we were offered a 50% discount on Mossback products. Unfortunately we do not have the funds to do that.
• Larry is requesting volunteers to help build “Georgia Cubes” at the Rod & Gun Storage bldg on Sunday, March 13th at noon. Should last no more than 2-3 hours. If available, contact Larry to let him know.
• The LBC and the Rod & Gun Club assisted in moving almost 2000 lbs of fish from Merritt to Smith Lake as part of the salvage operations.

Youth Director Report:
• The NWMSU plan to host their Spring “Bearcat Open” this Spring at Mozingo will not happen due to many competing events. Hopefully a date can be found for the Fall of 2106.
• We supported their meeting on February 23rd with a “Fish Stakes” setup. Thanks for the volunteers who helped.
• The NWMSU fishing club will be invited to participate in the Rod & Gun Club “Crappiethon” on May 14th at Lake Perry. They may need boat support.

Banquet Committee Report: A new volunteer is needed to head up the banquet committee for the 2016 banquet. This is a perfect opportunity for a member (especially a relatively new member) to contribute to the club’s activities.

Webmaster Report:
• Brent has several possible calendar options and hopes to get one posted into the web site in the very near future.
• He is also working on getting the pictures posted.

Vice President Report:
• Larry has these presentations scheduled for future meetings:
April Stephen Smith – jig fishing 101
May Gary Burton – fishing Smithville Lake
June Dennis Edwards – fishing lake Hudson
July Jim Wyatt – keeping fish alive
August Bob Greene – the panic box
September Someone – successful strategy for team tournaments
October Someone – successful strategy for multi day tournaments

President Report: Steve reported that Shoreline Boat & RV Repair will support the club with gas cards for the 2016 tournaments.

Fishing for Freedom: Larry expects to call a committee meeting later this month.

Old Business: None
New Business: Jim Zieger, the MOBASS president is offering a very good deal on tires thru the Firestone Store in Kansas City on 75th & Wornell. Contact him if you need tires.
New Members: Two new members this month, Jeff Arndt and a legacy, Chuck Phillips. Jeff lives near Ozark, MO and will hopefully fish with us as much as he can. Chuck initially joined the club the first year it was organized and fished thru the early 90’s. Welcome to both of you.

New Equipment Report:
• Dennis showed a system called “DockStiX” for tying a boat up to a pier. You can read more about them @
• He also showed a very nice rod cover from Rod Warrior. You can see them at

Outside Activities: 13 LBC members made the trip to Tulsa to watch the 2016 BASSMASTER Classic, won by Edwin EVERS. There was a good chunk of money left in Oklahoma from us. If you have never been to a Classic, you’re missing the super bowl of bass fishing.
