The June 4th, 2012 General Membership Meeting Minutes follows:

 WELCOME

The Leavenworth Bass Club held its regular monthly meeting on June 4th, 2012 at the Fort Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club Clubhouse.  There were 22 members present. The president called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Secretary’s Report:  The minutes for the April 30th, 2012 general membership meeting were approved as written.  They were e-mailed to all members and were posted to the club website.

Treasurer’s Report:   Treasurer reported a beginning balance of $3054.49 and a current balance of $3814.49. The Treasurer reported a balance of $2680.55 in the Fishing for Freedom account.  The Fishing For Freedom PayPal account has a current balance of $ 0. The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.

Conservation Committee: Dan has started 2 conservation programs. The first is used line recycling. The members can bring in their used line to Dan at any of the meetings instead of just discarding it. Dan will turn it in. The 2nd program will do the same thing for used plastics. The members are asked to put the line or plastics in a zip lock bag and bring it to the meetings, or you can also turn the line or plastics in to a tournament committee member at the weigh ins. These both sound like very beneficial programs.  Good job Dan!

 Youth Committee:

Banquet Committee:

Webmaster:  If you have something you would like to see on the website please email it to Travis at wayrnnr@yahoo.com and he will post it.  Fishing pictures or fishing articles would be great.

Vice President’s report: The club made almost $550.00 selling lunches at Cabela’s last month. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped. The money was turned over to the Fishing for Freedom 2012 program.

Hunting and Fishing license procedures for seniors changed for those of us over 65. Residents age 65 to 74 are now required to buy a hunting or fishing license but we get that license for half price. Or, the alternative is buying a one-time lifetime combination license when you reach age 65 at a greatly reduced rate ($40).”
The age for the total exemption needing a license will be 75. All new license changes will take effect January 1, 2013.

Jim Wyatt will present a class at the July 2nd meeting on taking care of fish, especially during the hot summer months. This is always a great presentation and all members are encouraged to attend. If anyone has ideas for a presentation at any of the meetings, please let the VP know.

The club will try to host a youth bass tournament this fall. Several dates will be provided at the next meeting (July 2nd) and volunteers to help will be identified.

President’s ReportMike Brooks and Bill Horvath attended the Quarterly Missouri Bass Federation Meeting on 2 June 2012 in Warsaw, MO.

The club received its 2012 Missouri Bass Federation Patches from the state and asked that they be distributed to the LBC members.

There were several topics discussed by the State Officers; The MOBASS budget, sponsors, and membership. Specifically mentioned was an upcoming vote for the MOBASS college Scholarship awards for the 2012 and 2013 school years, a reminder about the State Tournament to be held at Table Rock lake on 13 and 14 October. The tournament launch site was moved to the Port of Kimberling and “What’s Up Dock”.

A guest speaker was present from the Missouri Department of Conservation. His topic was to outline the results of a conservation summit conducted by the MDC and the Mo Conservation Alliance. He reported that there were five topics of greatest concern to the agencies involved and represent the fishermen and conservationists in Missouri. Those topics were:

1) Fish Care at weigh-ins and during tournament days

2) Non-native species (Clean-Drain-Dry)

3) Large scale habitat improvements

4) Water Wars and fishing access

5) Better relationships between organizations e.g. Clubs, State Federation, State Agencies and national.

This was a short meeting and provided an opportunity to network with other clubs and introduce ourselves to the state officers. All members of the LBC are encouraged to make an opportunity to represent our club at a MOBASS Federation meeting.

OLD BUSINESS:  Larry Stoafer reported on Fishing For Freedom.  There are currently 4 title sponsors.  Cabelas will be making their decision on the grant to be given to the Leavenworth Bass Club sometime in June.  Larry will keep us informed.
