The next club meeting will be on July 10th, NOT July 3rd, 2017 due to the 4th of July holiday.  The meeting will be at the Rod and Gun clubhouse.

Welcome: The Leavenworth Bass Club held its monthly meeting on June 5th at the Ft Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club.  There were 17 members present. The president called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.


Secretary Report:

  • The May newsletter was not emailed to all members but will be provided with this newsletter.
  • The secretary paid the annual Kansas non-profit report, cost was $40.00.


Treasurer Report: 

  • LBC checking account beginning balance is $6,115.71 and the ending balance is $6,513.27. The Fishing For Freedom beginning balance is $20,454.04 and the ending balance is $31,278.07. Pay Pal has $630.55.
  • The Treasurer’s report was approved as read.


Conservation Committee Report:  None.


Youth Director Report:

  • The Kansas Bass nation is raffling off Brent Chapman’s boat and Fishing’s Future (Bill is the KS state coordinator) is one of the recipients of the raffle. This organization provides the equipment we use at our Fishing for Freedom event and numerous kid’s events we support. Please go to

  • Anyone who is not fishing Hudson is invited to be a shore patrol volunteer on Saturday, June 10th at Cabela’s.
  • The annual Mel Hedricks kid’s fishing derby, sponsored by the Leavenworth County Commissioners will be held at Happy Hollow Lake on Saturday, June 24th from 8:00 AM to 11:00. We need about 10 volunteers to do shore patrol duties, show time is 7:30. Lunch will be provided. More details to follow.


  • Banquet Committee: Mike Brooks says we’re having a banquet on January 20th,  2018.

Outside Activities:  Several members fished in the Kansas TBF state qualifier at Wilson Lake in western Kansas. Congratulations to Larry Stoafer – 2nd place boater, Ray Cates – 1st place co-angler, Garrett Cates – boater, and Ray Hillebrand – co angler. They all move on to the next level, the TBF national Semifinal against Missouri at Wilson in September.

Regatta permit shows a 5:30 AM Launch and 3:00 PM Weigh-In for both days at Lake Hudson Inn.
