Since the next meeting date would be Monday, July 4th, the meeting will actually be held on Tuesday, July 5th. Still at the Ft. Leavenworth Rod and Gun Clubhouse and we will discuss taking care of fish in the livewell & preparing for the Mozingo tournament.

The General membership Meeting Minutes follow:
Welcome: The Leavenworth Bass Club held its monthly meeting on June 1st at the Ft Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club. There were 24 members present. The president called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. The guest speaker was Dennis Edwards, talking about the fun, pitfalls and perils of fishing at Hudson Lake in OK.
Secretary Report:
- Bill reported that the May newsletter was sent to all members by email. The members present voted to approve the minutes as published.
- Bill showed a license plate and a decal (pictures attached) that was made by the prison inmates on post . the license plates are 12.00 and the decals are 1.75 each. If you want either, let him know by the next meeting and the order will go in.
Treasurer Report: The club checking account had a starting balance of $4963.49 and an ending balance of $5,014.33. The Fishing for Freedom checking account had a beginning balance of $22,849.43 and ending balance of $23,849.43. PAYPAL account has a balance of $1580.70. The Treasurer’s report was approved as presented.
Conservation Committee Report:
- Dan proposed a conservation project involving the construction and placement of 20 “Georgia cubes” in Middle Creek Lake near Louisburg, KS. talking to the fisheries biologist who oversees the lake, he expects to both construct and place the cubes on the same day. What he needs from us are as many volunteers as possible, as many cordless screwdrivers as possible, and four boats. He can provide a screwdriver and a boat. Anyone who can help, please talk to Dan
- Dan informed Steve that we needed to find his replacement as he will continue to serve until our election of new Officers. This would be a great opportunity for any member who has not yet held a committee assignment.
Youth Director Report:
- There is a kid’s fishing derby, sponsored by the Leavenworth County Commissioner’s office on Saturday, June 25th at Happy Hollow Lake. We are asked to provide volunteers to do shore patrol. If you can help, contact Bill.
Banquet Committee Report: Kenny Smith has volunteered to be the new Chair Person. Thanks ,Kenny. You can expect full support from the other club members.
Webmaster Report: Brent will (did) get the latest roster posted on the web site.
Vice President Report:
- Larry has these presentations scheduled for future meetings:
July Jim Wyatt – keeping fish alive in hot weather
August Bob Greene – the panic box
September Someone – successful strategy for team tournaments
October Someone – successful strategy for multi day tournaments
- We discussed getting more or new weigh-in bags to replace the ones that still leak. The members approved replacing or adding to what we already have. Larry will research and get what is needed.
- The membership cards for the Rod and Gun Club expire in July and will need to be renewed. If you are a member and need to renew so you still have post access, see Larry for the paperwork.
President Report: The new shirts were ordered and all are delivered and paid for.
Fishing for Freedom:
- Larry pointed out that the location for the Fishing For Freedom banquet on Saturday, October 8th will be the convention center in Clinton, not the one in Warsaw.
- Larry asked us to drop a text or call Leroy Shull. He is still having major health problems and could use some friendly contact by those of us who know him.

New Equipment Report: Brent will have a 360 degree view camera at Hudson
Outside Activities: Garrett Cates placed 7th out of 90 teams at the Regional BASS College tournament at Clinton Lake, IL. Great job, Garrett !!!
