The next monthly Club meeting is on Tuesday 5 July 2011, at the Fort Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club. The grills will be ready at 6:00 PM for you to cook your steaks, hamburgers or whatever you want to bring. The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM.  Announcement: Just a reminder that our website is out there for all members to use, so get out there and check it out.  If you have anything that you would like to see on the website, please let Travis Perret know.  The website is located at the following address: http://theleavenworthbassclub.org/.  Also, please inform Travis and Bob concerning your buddies for the upcoming Buddy Tournaments so the rosters can be posted and updated accordingly.  This will allow folks looking for partners to figure out who might be available to fish in a given tournament.  Additionally, please check to make sure your personal information is correct on the webpage.  If your information is not correct, please notify Larry to ensure we have the most current information on the club rosters and he will get the webmaster the correct information.

For all of you that missed the June meeting, you missed a chance to win a free entry into a 2011 season tournament.  Just remember, you cannot affect any club decisions or win a free entry into a tournament, if you do not show up for the meetings! Be sure to plan to attend the July meeting.  Come early and join us around the bar.

The 6 June 2011 General Membership Meeting Minutes follows:

WELCOME

The Leavenworth Bass Club held its regular monthly meeting on 6 June 20011 at the Fort Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club Clubhouse.  There were 19 members present. The president called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Secretary’s Report: The secretary informed everyone that the minutes for the May 2011 general membership meeting were e-mailed to all members that have e-mail and were posted to the club website. The minutes from the May 2011 general membership meeting were approved as written.  We currently have 40 (2011 dues paid) members.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer reported a beginning balance of $2,493.53 and a current balance of $2,437.88 with expenditures of $530.65 and deposits of $475. The Treasurer reported a beginning balance of $5971.63 in the Fishing for Freedom account with a current balance of $11,005.54 with expenditures of $491.09 and deposits of $5,525. The Fishing For Freedom PayPal account has a current balance of $263.70. The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.

Conservation Committee: Dan Senterfitt confirmed our 2011 conservation project will be 10 Sep 2011 at Leavenworth State Lake. We will need 11-12 volunteers, 3 pick-up trucks, and a front end loader to help emplace brushpiles. Dave C has volunteered his loader and the club members present at the May meeting approved a motion to fill Dave’s tractor with gas. Please mark your calendar.

Youth Committee: Bill Horvath asked for volunteers to support the annual Cabelas Kid’s fishing day on 18 Jun 2011. The event will be at the Cabelas’ pond just outside of the store. Showtime is 8:15 AM and you should be done by 11:30 AM. We will need 6-12 volunteers. Cabelas will offer their vendor discount and a free lunch for anyone who helps out. If you can make it, please let Bill H know.

Banquet Committee: No report.

Webmaster: Travis reported progress on the new site was proceeding well and most of the information should be on the new website in 1-2 weeks. Travis posted a link in the forum of the old site for members to comment on and look at the content of the new site before it goes live. Please let Travis know if you have any ideas.

Vice President’s report: The 2nd place winner of the Big Cannon trip was Rodney Bledsoe and he cannot take the trip. The third place member did not step forward so we held a drawing of 2010 members who wanted the trip at the June meeting. The lucky winner was Randy Kenton.

Dan and Bill H will be helping the boy scouts earn their fishing badge on Sunday 26 June. They need 4-5 additional volunteers for the event. If you are available please let Dan or Bill H know. They also requested if anyone has some fish in the freezer that they would be willing to donate please let them know.

President’s Report: Randy reminded everyone to protect themselves with sun screen and drink plenty of water while there on the water. The president reminded everyone that it’s our responsibility to conserve the resources and to add ice and live well treatment to your tanks to keep fish alive.

OLD BUSINESS

Larry thanked all the club members who came out to support the special needs fishing event on 28 May. We had almost 40 participants that had a great time catching fish at Merritt Lake.

NEW BUSINESS

New Members: There were no new members present.

Fishing for Freedom: The F3 committee is scheduled to meet again on 21 June. Sponsorship is going well this year with 18-20K in verbal commitments with over $10K in sponsorship dollars already banked. If you have not registered to help out please do so at http://fishingforfreedom.us/join-us .

IRS filings: Larry reported that the club is required to file a form 990N e-postcard with the IRS annually and had not done so in recent years. Larry was scheduled to file the return in May 2011 but the IRS system is down and should be online in late June.

Bill H notified the members that Bill Welsch (leader of the band that played at F3 2010) was in town on mid-tour leave and that he had recently opened for Toby Keith at a USO show.

Larry reported he fished the KBFN Mr. Bass tournament and finished 6th overall with 14.5 lbs. It took 18.8lbs to win. Overall a good tournament and Perry Lake bass population is strong with lots of fish in the 15-18 inch range.

Mike Rasco attended his last LBC meeting. Mike will be PCSing to FT Polk, La in mid June. Mike thanked the club for a great experience and insisted that this was the best club he had ever fish with.

Tournament Director’s Report: Bob thanked the club as a whole as well as the individuals who sent condolences for the loss of his dad. Bob also thanked Bob Jorgensen and the Tournament Committee for once again running the May Truman tournament during his absence. Bob also mentioned that since this is his 4th year as the TD it’s time to start thinking about new blood in the club leadership positions. Elections will be held at the October meeting, but if you’re interested in being a part of the scheduling process for next year and serving in a
leadership position start thinking about it now.

Free Tournament Entry: Bill Fredericks was the lucky winner of one free tournament entry to be used in the 2011 season.
