The next club meeting will be on March 6th, 2017 at the Rod and Gun clubhouse. Larry Stoafer is scheduled to address LOZ spring patterns. Additionally, there will be the annual spring swap meet. Bring your gently used or even abused fishing, hunting and outdoor excess equipment to sell or swap.

Welcome: The Leavenworth Bass Club held its monthly meeting on February 6th at the Ft Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club. There were 16 members present. The president called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm.
Secretary Report: The January newsletter was emailed to all members. The secretary report was approved as presented.
Treasurer Report:
- LBC checking account beginning balance is $5,621.24 and the ending balance is $5,054.14 The Fishing For Freedom beginning balance is $16,651.93 and the ending balance is $16,545.09. Pay Pal has $630.55.
- The Treasurer’s report was approved as read.
Conservation Committee Report: No report
Youth Director Report: Several events are scheduled in the next few months. Please take a close look at your calendar and let Bill know where you can help. Some great opportunities for new members to participate in these youth events.
- The NWMSU Fishing Club asked us to present a class on using jigs and plastics on February 22nd.
- Also, we will do “Fish Stakes” on March 28th. If you can help, we need about 4 people to cover it. Let Bill know if you can help.
- There is a Bearcat Open scheduled for April 1st (no foolin’) at Mozingo. Hopefully there will be several members of their fishing club who would like to pair up with one of us for the tournament. More information will be provided at our March meeting, but if you think you can provide a boat, let Bill know.
- Cabela’s has asked us to conduct a casting kids contest on April 8th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the store in Kansas City. We need about 8-10 volunteers to instruct, keep score and register the kids. As always, lunch will be provided, along with the vendor’s discount to all who help. Contact Bill if you can help.
- The Kansas Bass nation is raffling off Brent Chapman’s boat and Fishing’s Future (Bill is the KS state coordinator) is one of the recipients of the raffle. This organization provides the equipment we use at our Fishing for Freedom event and numerous kid’s events we support. Please go to

Banquet Committee: Many thanks to Mike Brooks for running the 2016 awards banquet. There were about 75 members, families and guests there. Hopefully, next year we can invite the two remaining LBC charter members, Al Thacker and David Edwards of the original Leavenworth Bass Club to the 2017 banquet.

Vice President Report:
- Larry has posted the proposed schedule for our seminars at each of our meetings, on the club website in the Forum
- Larry, Jeff and Brent attended the quarterly MOBASS in Columbia, MO on February 4th LBC proposed several motions for consideration at the next meeting, to include:
- Establish a traveling club championship trophy based on average angler weight during the state championship. Minimum of 4 club members fishing to participate.
- Reinstitute the club incentive in that the club that wins club championship during the state tournament will have their entry fees waved for the next year. Entry fees waved will be no more than the number that participated on the championship team.
- Separate the state qualifier tournament big bass payouts into separate boater and co-angler pots.
- Scholarship money is available for family members studying fishing, biology or outdoor related majors. See Larry for details.
- We will get raffle tickets at the April 1st This year’s prize is an AR-15 type rifle.
- MOBASS will offer a 2017 Triton boat certificate to the highest bidder. The boat is at least 20% off retail.
- MOBASS is asking for help at several upcoming tournaments, all at LOZ and to get more volunteers, will pay for lodging and some meals; College finals on March 29th & 30th; High School finals on April 2nd and the Central Regional on April 5th, 6th, and 7th.
- The MO state qualifier will go out of Sterett Creek October 28th – 29th.
- Reminder that Solar bat sunglasses are discounted for us, around 40%.
- LBC proposed several motions for consideration at the next meeting, to include:
- separate the big bass pot for boater vs co-angler at state championship
- recreate the team competition at state championship
- pay entry fees for the following year for the state winning team
- The next MOBASS meeting is on April 27th at the Lighthouse, Pomme de Terre.

Fishing for Freedom: The 2017 Fishing For Freedom web site is open and accepting warriors, boaters and volunteers.

Larry provided samples of the Lake of the Ozarks go-to baits for the monthly raffle. Jim Wyatt, Dennis Edwards, Bill Gevedon Ray Cates and Bill Horvath all won.
There being no further official business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:55 PM
