The next club get together will be March 7th, 2016 at the Ft. Leavenworth Rod and Gun Clubhouse and we will discuss the March Table Rock Tournament. Larry Stoafer and Bob Greene will present information on using A-rigs and jerkbaits.

The General membership Meeting Minutes follow:


Welcome: The Leavenworth Bass Club held its monthly meeting on February 1st, 2016 at the Ft Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club.  There were 21 members present. The president called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm.


Secretary Report:

  • The January 2016 newsletter was emailed to all members. The current roster is posted on the web site. The secretary’s report was approved as presented.
  • Reminder that all members must pay their dues before they fish their first tournament.


Treasurer Report:  The club checking account had a starting balance of $2,665.60 and an ending balance of $3,598.85. The Fishing for Freedom checking account had a beginning balance of $23,598.30 and ending balance of $22,493.95. PAYPAL account has a balance of $1580.70. The Treasurer’s report was approved as presented.


Conservation Committee Report:

  • Danny has requested grant money from BASS to help rehab Merritt Lake on post.
  • He and Larry are coordinating this effort and will include moving fish from Merritt Lake to Smith Lake, once the water level is drawn down enough. Volunteers will be asked to help with seining and transporting fish.
  • They will also need volunteers later this year to help plant water willow in the western end of Merritt Lake.


Youth Director Report:

  • Several members will help the NWMSU fishing club with some basic and advanced casting instruction on February 2nd in Maryville.
  • The NWMSU plans to host their Spring “Bearcat Open” on April 2nd at Mozingo. We will be asked to provide boats for the event.
  • Will are also asked to support their meeting on February 23rd with a “Fish Stakes” setup. More information to follow.
  • Dennis has almost completed the process of setting up the Leavenworth High School Fishing Club. He is hoping for their first meeting in late February or early March.


Banquet Committee Report:  A new volunteer is needed to head up the banquet committee for the 2016 banquet.


Webmaster Report:

  • Brent has several possible calendar options and hopes to get one posted into the web site in the very near future.
  • He is also working on getting the pictures posted.


Vice President Report:


  • Larry has these presentations scheduled for future meetings:

  • Larry will update the discount program information just received from the latest MOBASS meeting.
  • Larry said he has reserved rooms for the MOBASS qualifier for October for 10 people.


President Report:  Steve reminded members to make reservations for the upcoming tournaments


Fishing for Freedom:  Larry expects to call a committee meeting later this month.


Old Business: We discussed the proposal to change the bylaws on how we determine “who” is eligible to hold office. The club members present voted to amend the bylaws as shown:


Section 6: Eligibility for Holding Office


            To be eligible for an office, a member must:

  • Have paid dues prior to the first tournament of that year.
  • Have shown an active interest in all chapter functions.


No member on probation shall be allowed to serve as an officer or on a committee.

New Business:  None.

New Members: No new members but we did have a guest, John Hester who is considering  joining the club.


New Equipment Report:   No report


Outside Activities: No report


MOBASS News: 4 members attended the quarterly meeting held on January 9th, 2016 in Columbia. The official notes from that meeting will be distributed when published. Larry did discuss the highlights:

  • Our club made a motion to reinstate the trophy for the highest scoring club at the state team qualifier. This will be discussed and voted on at the next MOBASS meeting
  • MOBASS president discussed trying to increase the number of BASS Nation members in Missouri by 100
  • The Triton boat package is available to the first bidder. Details on the MOBASS web site.
  • Detailed information will be passed along when the minutes are received from MOBASS

The free tournament entry was won by Kenny Smith


Door prizes were won by a whole bunch of members, but especially Kenny Smith and Randy Kenton who each won 3 times.


Dennis Edwards and Bill Gevedon each won gas cards donated by Shoreline RV and Boat Repair.


There being no further official business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 PM


After the meeting Bob Jorgensen gave another outstanding overview, this time on the “secret” baits he guarantees will catch fish at Table Rock. He even included a short video of setting up and how to use your electronics to catch deep fish. Unbelievably helpful and appreciated.
