The General Membership Meeting Minutes follows:

WELCOME: The Leavenworth Bass Club held its regular monthly meeting on December 1st, 2014 at the Rod and Gun Clubhouse.  There were 19 members present. The President called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Secretary’s Report:  The minutes for November 2014 were approved as written.  They were e-mailed to all members and are now posted to the club website.  Notified several members that their BASS membership expire within the next 2 months. Contact the secretary if you have a question about when yours expires.

The club sent a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project in honor of Billy Murphy who died after a long fight with cancer.

If you have ANY changes or corrections for the roster, pass them along to the secretary.

Treasurer’s Report:   Kenny reports that the club checking account had a starting balance of $2,968.82 and an ending balance of $2,911.19. The Fishing for Freedom checking account had  a balance of $25,852.94.and the PAYPAL account has a balance of $96.27, neither of which changed from last month. The Treasurer’s report was approved as presented. Kenny updated the budget for 2015. There were a few very minor changes.  Bob Jorgensen paid his annual dues.

Conservation Committee Report: Dan had no comments, but did verify that with a large bag of used plastics turned in, he does have enough to send off to Whopper Baits for recycling.

Youth Committee Report:  Bill announced that the fishing club at NWMSU will have a banquet at the Hy Vee in Maryville on December 5th. Bill plans on attending and invites other club members to attend too. If anyone has any more items to donate for their banquet, contact me and he’ll take them along.

I forgot to mention the outstanding job Bill Frederick did with his walleye seminar to the NWMSU members on November 4th. There were about 14 students who attended and all really enjoyed the presentation. Thanks Bill !!

Banquet Committee Report:  John says everything is on track for January 24th at the  Eagles Club.  John briefed the members present on:

  • The cost of the meal will be $15.00, with the club paying for each member and 1 guest, plus for several invited guests (2 each from the NWMSU fishing club, the president of MOBASS and his wife), and sponsors that provide services or goods worth at least $150.00. He will arrange for the invitations to go out.
  • Menu is: roast beef, turkey, pulled pork, veggies, hash brown casserole, bread, desert, plus refills on coffee and tea.
  • No host bar opens at 5:00 PM
  • John requested that setup volunteers be at the Leavenworth Eagles at 3:30.
  • John asked about frames for selected sponsor thank you’s, and Bill Gevedon volunteered to buy at least 6 and take door prize tickets ILO cash.
  • John will coordinate with Dennis to produce either placemats or an agenda booklet, and Dennis will have them printed.
  • John had the members present fill out a roster of who’s coming and bringing guests to the banquet. He will contact all members who don’t respond by January 11th for a final headcount. Please let John know how many ladies will attend so the right number of flowers can be purchased by Bob Jorgensen.
  • John reminded the members that the raffle tickets sold at the banquet pay for the prizes and can help offset the meal cost. What he wants to say is ”BUY LOTS OF RAFFLE TICKETS”.
  • There will be a special drawing for the week at Big Canon, courtesy of Sam and Cynthia Guse. The more active each of us were in 2014, the more chances we have to win.

Webmaster Report:  Brent Goss is working hard to update the web site. He requested that if you do not have a picture for your profile, he will provide one for you (look out for Larry, Curly and Moe type pics). He is also working on getting the calendar working so we can add in all the activities we would like to track.

If you have suggestions for the web site, contact Brent, and if you need a password for the forum, contact Brent.

Vice President’s Report:  Larry reported that Dennis will give a presentation at the February meeting on setting up rods and line for the different types of fishing we do.

If there is something you would like to recommend for a presentation, see Larry.

He is still selling tickets for an HDS 9 with side scan, as a fund raiser for TBF, which will be raffled off in April next year.

President’s Report:  Steve encouraged us to support the various sponsors that offer discounts to  LBC and MOBASS members, to include Powell Rods, Vicious Fishing, Shimano Rods, Solar bat sunglasses.

Old Business:  Randy discussed his good experiences with what all Shoreline Boat and RV Repair was doing to detail his boat, and fix other issues that they found. Shoreline is a major sponsor for us (gas cards, detail giveaway) and we should support them as we can.

New Business:  FFF Report- Larry reports that if anyone wants a copy of the after action report (AAR) from the 2014 Fishing for Freedom event, contact him for a copy.

By-Law changes. None this month. Randy will update  the tournament rules with the changes discussed and approved last month.

New Members: None. Steve encouraged us to solicit for new members, especially co-anglers. Suggestion was made to  see  if we could put club flyers at some of the booths at the KC Sports Show. A copy of the current flyer was sent to Steve.

There being no further official business, the meeting was adjourned.

Bob Jorgensen then gave an OUTSTANDING presentation on patterns, lures and specific locations for the upcoming Table Rock tournament. There should be no excuses for every club member not to record a 20 pound sack both days, based on the detailed information Bob presented. Good luck to those fishing.
