Welcome: The Leavenworth Bass Club held its monthly meeting on December 4th at the Ft Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club.  There were 20 members present. The Vice President called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.






Secretary Report:  The November newsletter was emailed to all current members and posted on the web site. The Secretary’s report was approved as read.


Treasurer Report:  LBC checking account beginning balance is $4,970.23 and the ending balance is $7,212.23. The Fishing For Freedom beginning balance is $13,528.24 and the ending balance is $13,250.81. Pay Pal account has $96.80. The Treasurer’s report was approved as read.


Conservation Committee Report:

  • Eric reported that we have received 11 various sizes of Mossback fish habitat and we tentatively plan on putting them in Banner Creek next March-April timeframe.
  • Shipping was $167.50.
  • Larry discussed a program on Ft Leavenworth to collect Christmas trees thru January 6th. Once collected, they will be put into Merritt Lake on post as fish habitat.


Youth Director Report:

  • The NWMSU Fishing Club plans to hold their fund raiser/buffet at the Hy-Vee grocery store in Maryville on January 19th.  Thanks to Bob Jorgensen and Brent Goss for their donations for the silent auction. If any other members have items to donate, contact me and we can arrange pickup.
  • Cabela’s has donated floor space to Fishing’s Future and The LBC for the KC Sports Show the weekend of 19-21 January. Plans are to do backyard bass & pitching/flipping for kids. We can also promote our bass club. More information will follow and a request for volunteer support.


Banquet Committee:

  • Mike Brooks discussed plans for the awards banquet on January 20th at the Leavenworth  Eagles Club, 300 S. 20th Street. 
  • The club will pay for each current club member in good standing and one guest, plus sponsors.
  • Meals will cost around $15-16 dollars for all others.
  • The members voted to allow a total of $1,300 for door prizes.
  • Mike requested that all of us RSVP no later than January 6th so he can provide a headcount to the Eagles. Please include any guests and mention if any attendees are female.
  • If you have contacted sponsors for previous banquets, please do soonest and let Mike know who is donating and how many will attend.
  • Expect the social to start at 5:00, dinner at 6:00 then awards and drawings. The banquet is usually over by around 9:00.
  • Mike will send out an e-main invitation with all the specifics.

New Business:  Bill Gevedon talked about the sublimated jerseys that will be the awards for 2016-2017 tournament year. Same basic design but a different color.

New Equipment Report:

  • Bill discussed changing the trolling motor from a Motor Guide Xi5 to a Minn Kota Fortrex.
  • There was a discussion about boarding ladders and the various types available.
  • Larry talked about his new storage building.

Tournament Director:

  • Mark discussed the tentative tournament schedule for next year. He will send it out to all members but cautioned that it is not final until all regatta permits are approved.

There being no further official business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:23


Randy Kenton led an outstanding discussion about “surviving a fall overboard”. This is especially important for those that fish in cold weather. Randy passed out a handout with a lot of really good information in it. Thanks for sharing, Randy !!!
