The August 5th, 2013 General Membership Meeting Minutes follows:

The Leavenworth Bass Club held its regular monthly meeting on August 5th  at the Fort Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club Clubhouse.  There were 17 members present. The

President called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Secretary’s Report:  The minutes for the June 3rd, 2013 general membership meeting were approved as written.  They were e-mailed to all members and were posted to the club website. A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes as posted.  The motion carried and the secretary’s report was accepted as posted on the web site.

Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer reported a beginning balance of $5040.45 and an ending balance of $5149.47. The Treasurer reported a beginning balance of $8508.84 in the Fishing for Freedom account with an ending balance of $15268.23.  The Fishing for Freedom PayPal account has a current balance of $ 448.81. The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.

Conservation Committee:  The Conservation committee Chairman Dan Senterfit was accepting recycle donations at the meeting.  He further stated that he currently had about one half of a container of used plastics and that he would not forward the shipment until he had a full container.  He further stated that he would continue to collect monofilament line and deliver it to the Bass Pro Shops recycle center.

Youth Committee:  There was no Youth Committee report.

Banquet Committee:  No Report.

Webmaster:  Travis announced that the web site was in good shape and added that its utility to the club members as a way communicate is only as good as our willingness to use it.  He encouraged all the membership to log on to the site and use our message board.

Vice President’s report: No Report.

President’s Report:   The presidents report included comments about the 2013 MOBASS State Qualifier.  Mike encouraged all the membership to plan ahead and if offered the opportunity to participate be able to make that decision as quickly as possible.  He reminded the members present that the club would select its 2013 team members from the tournament standings in the same order as their tournament standings as of the end of August.  The club would then solicit the members to determine their willingness to represent the club at the State Qualifier.  He stated that the official State Rules are found on the MOBASS web site.

Fishing For Freedom:  No report was given

Old Business:  There was no old business discussed.

New Business:  A lengthy discussion was held regarding the club paying the entry fee for each club member chosen to fish the State Qualifier.  Points were made including that it was an incentive to participate; many other clubs find the means to support their team members and that as long as the LBC had the funds we should also.  Other discussion points presented by members included that agreeing to pay entry fees for the State Qualifier was a significant change in previous club decisions that the decision should be made at the beginning of the fishing year and not at this late date.  That paying the entry fee would be subsidizing the same qualifiers year after year.  Additional questions directed at former team members indicated that the most effective monetary support would be paying the entry fee rather than providing funds to defray other expenses.  A motion was made to pay up to ten entry fees plus an alternate only for the 2013 fishing year.  The motion also included a rider that the club would continue to pay the “Club Fee” currently $55 to MOBASS.  After additional discussion the motion was put to a vote and the motion passed by a vote of 14 “Yes” and 2 “No” votes.

New Members:  No prospective members were present.
