The General membership Meeting Minutes follow:

Welcome: The Leavenworth Bass Club held its monthly meeting on the August 3rd , 2015 at the Ft Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club. There were 22 members present. The president called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm.

Secretary’s Report: The July newsletter was emailed to all members. The current roster is posted on the web site. The secretary report was approved as presented.

Treasurer’s Report: Kenny reports that the club checking account had a starting balance of $3,710.78 and an ending balance of $4,560.48. The Fishing for Freedom checking account had a beginning balance of $33,050 and ending balance of $38,328.24. PAYPAL account has a balance of $581.47. The Treasurer’s report was approved as presented.

Conservation Committee Report: : There were several bags of used plastics turned in for recycling. Bring your used plastic thingies and line to the next meeting so Dan can turn it in.

MOBASS is reported to have money available for conservation projects. If you have any projects in mind, contact Dan.

Youth Committee Report: The NWMSU fishing club is planning a Fall 2015 “Bearcat Open” at Mozingo on the 25th of October and is asking for our support. We would provide and drive boats for 2 college students to fish (and run the trolling motor IF allowed by the owner). Volunteers were asked who might be available to support, and about 7 members said yes. More information will be provided at the September meeting. There may be opportunities for others to also support, such as launching/recovering boats, assisting at the weigh-in, etc. Contact the youth coordinator if interested.

Banquet Committee Report: John has made reservations at the Leavenworth Eagles for our annual banquet for January 30th, 2016. The membership asked him to relook and see if the Eagles Club is available on January 23rd which is the preferred date. John will report at the September meeting.

Webmaster Report: Brent can assist any members if they have difficulty accessing the website. If you have suggestions for the web site or need help or a password, contact Brent.

Vice President’s Report: September program is how to prefish/prepare for multiple day tournaments. The October program will be seasonal patterns by Bob Greene, election of officers for 2016 and voting for “Sportsman of the Year” for 2015. In November we discuss changes to the tournament rules.

Lowrance Seminar. Shooting for the 3rd of October. Bass Pro Shops in Independence will be the location for the classroom activities. We will have an avid Lowrance user and a manufacturers rep for the classroom portion. 2-4hrs in the morning. We will have access to the Lowrance desk top training devices. Bass Pro will open the classroom portion to everyone to get max participation. The on the water instruction will be just for the LBC hosted by the avid Lowrance user. It will be in the afternoon on one of the city lakes around Independence. Boats in the water in a pre-tournament launch configuration so the instructor can move from deck to deck and talk and help with setup.

President’s Report: Steve and Mike Brooks will head up the “fish stakes” at F3 this year on Saturday morning, 9:00 to noon and they are looking for about 3 more volunteers to assist them. See Steve Read for assisting on this project.

Fishing for Freedom: Still need more boaters and volunteers to help. New agenda for boaters. Friday night a get together at Anglers Port for the boaters to get them more quickly on fish instead of coming to Truman “cold”. Possible hot dogs and burgers as well.

Old Business: No report
New Business:
• Randy reported on the problems with the weigh in scales. He bought a new lidded box to keep the scales in to prevent water damage. The club voted to reimburse Randy for the cost.
• Bill Gevedon offered all members the opportunity to review the spreadsheet he maintains that determines how many tickets each of us gets for the Big Canon drawing.
• Brent Goss volunteered to get our tournament results in the KC paper.
• There was a discussion reference the access to Ft Leavenworth by LBC members. Currently, non-DOD ID holders must either get a day pass every month IOT get on post to attend our meetings, or be a member of an on post organization. After much discussion, Mike Brooks, Bill Gevedon and Danny Lee volunteered to research the issues and present options at the September meeting. Thanks guys.
• There was also a discussion about how to determine how many club members would be picked to represent us at the tournament that selects the MO state fishing team. The tournament will be at Table Rock on October 17th & 18th. Additional issues were how to rank order who gets to be boater vs co-angler, and, how to disperse the money last year’s team got for winning 1st place. After a lively and spirited discussion, the club voted to:
• Allow an unlimited number of our embers to try to get onto the state team. The number of boaters and co-anglers must be equal.
• Use our year end rankings for boater & co-angler selection.
• Postpone the decision to a later meeting of how to divide the 2014 monies for this year’s team.
• We will draw for pairings for the Classic at the next meeting.
• We also need to refine and turn in the roster for who wants to fish the Mo. Team tournament.
By-Law changes. None
New Members: None

New Equipment Report: No report

Outside Activities:
• Rodney and his son won a tournament on Mozingo, July 25th , supporting cystic fibrosis. Congratulations to the Bledsoes for a winning weight of 21.86 lbs.
• The next day, the team of Bill & Bill wacked ‘em for just under 27 lbs, with a kicker of 7.34 (Bill G’s) to win a Nebraska TBF Open. Would be great to see more teams for next year from the club.

MOBASS news: Vote taken last month and passed to allow as many anglers and co-anglers from each club to fish the qualifier, as long as there are an even number of each. The quantity will be up to the individual clubs. (see New Business comments above).
