The next club meeting will be on Monday, May 3rd, 2021 at Larry Stoafer’s toy barn.

The website is located at the following address: http://theleavenworthbassclub.org/ If you need assistance signing up for the forum, contact the new Webmaster, Brent Goss.

Welcome: The Leavenworth Bass Club held their meeting on April 5th at Larry Stoafer’s toy barn. Thank you, Larry very much for offering the location to our club members. There were 18 members present. The President called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Secretary Report: All members are currently in good standing with BASS National and MOBASS.

Treasurer Report: LBC checking account beginning balance was $10,098.60 and the ending balance is $10,161.21.

Conservation Committee Report:

  • Eric is working on a project, potentially at Hillsdale Lake, planting “spider tubes”. Time frame will probably be in the September-October range.
  • Larry commented that Bass Pro may also have conservation money available.

Youth Director Report:

  • The students at NWMSU are running their Bearcat Open on Saturday, April 10th. They requested 3-5 boats to take college folks out.
  • Thanks to Bill Gevedon & Steve Read (plus Joe Franks from Maryville) for helping to conduct fish stakes on March 23rd.
  • More info to follow, but here are several youth events in the near future to include:
    • May 15th, Kid’s Fishing Derby on Ft Leavenworth
    • June 5th, the Olathe Kid’s Fishing Derby at Cedar Lake.
  • Thanks to the members that donated magazines for the college students.

Banquet Committee: No report.

Webmaster Report: No report.

Vice President Report: No report.

President Report:

  • Bob thanked Larry for hosting another LBC meeting.
  • Effective immediately, gathering size on the installation increased to 30 personnel indoors and 50 personnel outdoors. Travel radius for those affected was increased to 250 miles. Effective 19 April Ft. LVN transitions to PHASE II Bravo of reopening. Family Morale Welfare and Recreation and religious services and facilities are expanding. If interested check their website for updates. What this means to those LBC members without a DoD Nexus… Effective 19 April the Visitor Control Center will once again begin issuing installation passes for non-official purposes. I highly recommend that you contact whomever your POC is, in whatever organization (Rod and Gun Club for most) manages your Local Access Credentials. Complete the paperwork and submit it for a new LAC at your earliest convenience. The Board of Directors is setting a target date of the July LBC meeting to resume meeting on Ft. LVN at the Rod and Gun Club. This allows you all, in excess of 80 days to renew your credentials. Don’t wait, contact your POC now and get the process started.
  • I plan to attend the MOBASS meeting this Saturday. As reported in February, at this meeting clubs will vote on the State Tournament rule change proposal. We discussed that rule change proposal and voted as a club to not support the change. I will vote No to the change on behalf of the club.
  • The MOBASS Bradley More Scholarship applications are due to MOBASS at the April meeting. Applications can be found on the MOBASS Website. If anyone has any that they want me to hand carry, I will.
  • Glenn Powel Retirement Party: Friday April 30th 1100 AM-3:00 PM at Cabela’s Kansas City. Located in the circle drive between the service center and the store. Lunch will be provided.

Fishing for Freedom: No report.

Old Business:

  • At the last MOBASS meeting, there were two potential rule changes that were discussed and will be voted on at the next MOBASS meeting in April:
    • A change to the way boaters and co-anglers are paired at the state tournament. The proposal was to pair anglers within their own clubs vs pairing up with someone from the whole pool of boaters. After a discussion, the members present voted NOT to support this change.
    • The second proposal was to follow the specific lake limits for bass species rather than the same length limit for smallmouth, largemouth and spotted bass. Some lakes have a reduced size limit for spotted bass. The members present discussed this and voted that MOBASS follow the specific lake limits rather than the same size limit for all 3 species of bass. It was unclear if this potential change would apply to the other MOBASS tournaments or just the state championship.
