The next club get together will be May 2nd, 2016 at the Ft. Leavenworth Rod and Gun Clubhouse and we will sign up & discuss the May Smithville “draw” tournament. Gary Burton (from Burton’s Bait & Tackle) is scheduled to talk about fishing Smithville and he is considered to be a resident expert on the lake.

The General membership Meeting Minutes follow:

Welcome: The Leavenworth Bass Club held its monthly meeting on April 4th at the Ft Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club. There were 21 members present. The president called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Secretary Report:
• The March 2016 newsletter was emailed to all members.. The secretary’s report was approved as presented.

Treasurer Report: The club checking account had a starting balance of $3,859.495 and an ending balance of $4128.49. The Fishing for Freedom checking account had a beginning balance of $22,993.95 and ending balance of $22,889.43. PAYPAL account has a balance of $1580.70. The Treasurer’s report was approved as presented.

Conservation Committee Report:
• We picked up two boxes of recycled plastics from Whopper Baits for distribution to youth groups.

Youth Director Report:
• There is a Kid’s Casting event at Cabela’s on April 16th. We will provide member support, 10:00 to 1:00 PM. If you can help, let Bill know.
• On May 7th, there will be the 1st City Kid’s Fishing Derby at Eighty Acres Lake on Michaels St in Leavenworth. More information will be provided at the May meeting.
• The NWMSU fishing club is invited to participate in the Rod & Gun Club “Crappiethon” on May 14th at Lake Perry. They may need boat support.

Banquet Committee Report: A new volunteer is needed to head up the banquet committee for the 2016 banquet. This is a perfect opportunity for a member (especially a relatively new member HINT-HINT) to contribute to the club’s activities.

Webmaster Report:
• Brent has several possible calendar options and hopes to get one posted into the web site in the very near future.
• He is also working on getting the pictures posted.

Vice President Report:

President Report:
• Steve reported that the next MOBASS quarterly meeting will be on April 30th at Pomme de Terre, exact location and time TBP. We need a volunteer to attend so the club gets credit.
• Steve is taking orders for new tournament jerseys.

Fishing for Freedom: No report.

Old Business: None
New Business: Jim Zieger, the MOBASS president is offering a very good deal on tires thru the Firestone Store in Kansas City on 75th & Wornell. Contact him if you need tires.
New Members: Two new members this month, Jeff Arndt and a legacy, Chuck Phillips. Jeff lives near Ozark, MO and will hopefully fish with us as much as he can. Chuck initially joined the club the first year it was organized and fished thru the early 90’s. Welcome to both of you.

New Equipment Report: No report.

Outside Activities: None.

There being no further official business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:51 PM

After the meeting Stephen shared his secrets to success through jig fishing. His explanations of what and how he works jigs should pay off for those of us who do not have confidence in pitching and flipping jigs. Thanks, Stephen.
