Please note, the next monthly Club meeting is on April 30th, 2012, at the Fort Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club.  The club membership voted at the 2 April meeting to move the next meeting to April 30th, 2012 vice May 7th, 2012 so that we have a meeting before the Mozingo tournament. The grills will be ready at 6:00 PM for you to cook your steaks, hamburgers or whatever you want to bring. The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM.

The website is located at the following address: http://theleavenworthbassclub.org/. .  Additionally, please check to make sure your personal information is correct on the webpage.  If your information is not correct, please notify Travis to ensure we have the most current information on the club rosters and he will get the webmaster the correct information.

For all of you that missed the April meeting, you missed a chance to win a free entry into a 2012 season tournament.  Just remember, you cannot affect any club decisions or win a free entry into a tournament, if you do not show up for the meetings! Be sure to plan to attend the April 30th meeting.   Come early and join us around the bar.

The April 2nd, 2012 General Membership Meeting Minutes follows:

 WELCOME

The Leavenworth Bass Club held its regular monthly meeting on April 2nd at the Fort Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club Clubhouse.  There were 19 members present. The vice-president called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Secretary’s Report:  The minutes for the March 5th 2012 general membership meeting were approved as written.  They were e-mailed to all members and were posted to the club website.  Some members are having issues receiving the emailed minutes due to Fort Leavenworth’s email account restrictions.  Please inform Travis if you are not receiving the emails and he can find an alternative way of getting them to you.

Treasurer’s Report:   Treasurer reported a beginning balance of $2512.74 and a current balance of $2722.74. The Treasurer reported a balance of $2139.32 in the Fishing for Freedom account.  The Fishing For Freedom PayPal account has a current balance of $ 0. The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.

Conservation Committee:  Dan Senterfitt discussed a conservation project at Smithville Lake and asked for volunteers to participate: The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will hold a Smithville Volunteer Habitat Day on April 14th.  The purpose of the event is to get volunteers to assist in brush pile installation, bowling ball habitat construction, trash pickup, and habitat cage removal. There will not be a club led effort to support this event, but individuals who would like to volunteer are encouraged to attend.  All volunteers should be at the Little Platte Marina at 9:00AM on April 14th.  For more information, please contact Eric Dennis at 816-271-3100.

MDU is considering holding similar events each fall and spring in an effort to improve the fishing at Smithville Lake.  Details of the next event will be provided as soon as they are available.

Youth Committee:   Bill Horvath pointed out that Shawn and Steve Read would be attending the NW Missouri University Fishing Club meeting on April 3rd. One of the issues is to find out their club’s interest (or not) in doing a tournament with them on May 6th, the day after our tournament at Mozingo.  Bill Horvath plans on attending their meeting on April 10th.

Banquet Committee:  No volunteer yet to head up the banquet for 2013. Anyone interested please contact Bill Horvath for the information on last’s year event.

Webmaster:  No report. If anyone is having trouble accessing the web site or the forum, please contact Travis for help or instructions on how to do it.

Vice President’s report:  We discussed changing the date of the next meeting from May 7th  to April 30th so that we could have another meeting prior to the Mozingo tournament on May 5th. After a lively discussion, the membership present voted to change the date to April 30thBecause the college team at NWMSU decided they cannot fish on May 6th,  the Tournament Committee changed Mozingo to a buddy tournament on May 5th, and added an optional buddy tournament for May 6th.

President’s Report:  The vice-president passed along two issues for the president.  One, a reminder and request for any of our members to attend the next MOBASS meeting on April 21st, which is the same date as our Truman tournament. An email was sent out to the membership with the request that anyone not fishing the Truman tournament to please attend the MOBASS meeting.

OLD BUSINESS:  A proposed by-laws change was discussed at the last meeting on March 5th and voted on by the membership present. The change is:

“ARTICLE IX – Annual Awards

The following references several awards that are presented at the annual banquet to recognize achievement from the previous tournament year. This is NOT an absolute list and can be amended by a vote to change the By-Laws.

Currently, the list includes:  Sportsman of the Year, Top Ten Anglers, Guide of the Year, Co Angler of the Year, Rookie of the Year, 1st Big Bass, 2nd Big Bass, 3rd Big Bass”

The membership approved the new addition with one change, deleting “Non Boater of the year” and adding Co Angler of the Year”.

 NEW BUSINESS: None

Tournament Director’s Report:  The Tournament Director’s results from Table Rock tournaments  on March 17th and 18th were postponed until the April 30th meeting so that the membership could get home in time to watch the NCAA basketball finals.

The club’s next tournaments will be held on Truman Lake, April 21st and 22nd 2012.  Long Shoal Ramp is the weigh-in location both days.  Trailering is allowed both days.

Saturday the 21st, the tournament starts at 6:15 AM or safe light and weigh-in is at 3:00 PM. On Sunday the 22nd, the tournament starts at 6:15 AM or safe light and weigh-in is at 2:00 PM.
