 The next monthly Club meeting is on May 6th, 2013, at the Fort Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club.  The grills will be ready at 6:00 PM for you to cook your steaks, hamburgers or whatever you want to bring. The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM.

For all of you that missed the April meeting, you missed a chance to win a free entry into a 2013 season tournament.  Just remember, you cannot affect any club decisions or win a free entry into a tournament, if you do not show up for the meetings!  Come early and join us around the bar.

The April 1st, 2013 General Membership Meeting Minutes follows:

WELCOME

The Leavenworth Bass Club held its regular monthly meeting on April 1st at the Fort Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club Clubhouse.  There were 22 members present. The president called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Secretary’s Report:  The minutes for the March 4th, 2013 general membership meeting were approved as written.  They were e-mailed to all members and were posted to the club website. A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes as posted.  The motion carried and the secretary’s report was accepted as posted on the web site.

Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer reported a beginning balance of $3488.15 and a current balance of $4746.42. The Treasurer reported a beginning balance of $8671.46 in the Fishing for Freedom account with a current balance of $8631.46.  The Fishing for Freedom PayPal account has a current balance of $ 448.81. The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.

Conservation Committee:  The Conservation committee Chairman Dan Senterfit, reported that he sent 28.5 pounds of baits that he received at the previous meeting to whopper baits and that some of the baits may be used in their current state while other will be melted down and reproduced.  Dan was asked to keep track of the amount of baits, by weight, that he has and is sending to Whopper Baits.

Youth Committee:  The Youth Committee Chairman, Bill Horvath, stated that he, Bill Gevedon and Bob Jorgensen will travel to Mozingo to run “Fish Stakes” for the NWMSU fishing team.  He reported that the Bearcat open is on Saturday and that possibly 16 people from NWMSU were going to fish in it.  He stated that he may need three to four more boats as stand by.  He reported that the volunteer boater would act as boat driver and observer, would not be allowed to run the trolling motor, give advice, or fish.  Bill asked that the club pay for the fuel expenses for the members that were going to the “Fish Stakes” event.  A motion was made to pay for the fuel expenses and passed.

Banquet Committee:  There was no Banquet Committee report.

Webmaster:  There was no Webmaster report, however Travis made mention of asking Gary Burton to speak to the club about keeping fish alive during a tournament.  More to follow.

Vice President’s report: No Report.

President’s Report:  Club President Mike Brooks mentioned that MOBASS raffle tickets were going to be on sale or ready for pick up at the next MOBASS meeting and asked for a show of hands to collect a number for the amount of tickets the club wanted.  A number of 65 tickets will be picked up and ready for members shortly. June 7th the Missouri Conservation group will be holding golf Tourney for those that want to go, and 6 April the MOBASS meeting will be at Pomme De Terre for those that wish to attend.  Get with Mike Brooks for that meeting.

Mike Brooks also reported that there were currently 33 orders for club shirts and that the company and the club were finalizing some difficulties with some of the graphic designs given, a final cleanup of the design is being made at this time.  A confirmation on price will be e-mailed to the members of the club that expressed interest in ordering.

Fishing For Freedom:  FFF committee had their regularly scheduled meeting and reported that there are no issues with this year event.  Larry reported that there will be more TV production this year with the inclusion of WFN as well as IDEW shows.

Old Business:  No old business

New Business:  Larry Stoafer made mention of the fact that the club is able to use the Rod and Gun club house at no cost.  He mentioned that is would be appreciated that is members of the club could volunteer their time to support fishing events held by the Rod and Gun Club.  He made mention of the R&G Club spring bass tournament that will be held on Banner Creek Reservoir on 13 April.  He stated that the R&G Club needed a few boats to support this event and that those boaters who support the event will be treated like members of the R&G Club and pay the entry fees that the Club members pay.  He also stated that there is a Walleye tournament coming up on the 27th of April at Clinton Lake that is in need of a few boats.

New Members:  No New members present.

Tournament Director’s Report: The Tournament Director, Ray Hillebrand reported the results of the March 23 and 24 Table Rock Tournament.

5th Place:  Travis Perret – 7.23 Reported catching fish on a Wiggle Wart and Shaky Head mid-way

4th Place:  Jim Wyatt – 8.31 Reported using an A-Rig and Gitzit along the outside of trees in 60 feet of water.

3rd Place:  Bill Gevedon – 11.05 Reported using a J-Rig and Wiggle Wart shallow in Schooner Creek.

2nd Place:  Dennis Edwards – 12.26 Reported using Mega-Bass jerk bait on secondary points.

1st Place:  Bob Jorgensen – 13.56 Reported using a Mega-Bass jerk bait and A-Rig in 40 foot of water.

 24 March

 5th Place:  Bob Jorgensen – 4.14 Reported using the same presentations as listed above.

4th Place:  Dave Clevenger – 4.97 reported using a Mega-Bass Jerk bait.

3rd Place:  Bill Gevedon – Reported using the same presentation as listed above.

2nd Place:  Rich Perl – 5.09 Reported using a wiggle wart along docks.

1st Place:  Ken Hackworth – 9.97 Reported using a Jerk Bait in Tree tops down 15-20 feet in 40-60 feet of water.
