Members from the Leavenworth Bass Club assisted the North West Missouri State Fishing Club by giving several seminars on fishing skills on April 16th at the Mozingo Outdoor Education Recreation Area (better known to some of as the obstacle course cove). Bill Horvath and Steve Read assisted with pitching and flipping skills, while Bob Jorgensen gave a great class on hook removal (using an orange, not a human prop). Bill Gevedon taught some basic fishing knots, while a mutual friend, Joe Franks from Maryville showed the differences of several rod and reel combinations. The sessions were followed by a demonstration of the “shock boat” by Tory Mason, Missouri Department of Conservation fisheries biologist. He shocked up several keeper sized bass and walleye, and a huge school of shad. Very interesting day.
Thanks to Bill, Steve and Bob (and Joe) for spending their valuable time helping the college team with improving their skills.
